This month I’ve been painting, sculpting and gardening.
I’ve been playing with a new sculpture (above), the working title is The Ghost Forest. I’m not sure whether it will fly or not. Playing is an important part of my work.
I’ve also been in the sculpture studio developing my little Sailing with the Sirens sculptures, finding the right form, before I take them to the galvanizers.
In the painting studio, I’ve been working on SPRING paintings-on-paper. The yellow of spring is what attracts me most. I love seeing the wattle come out in our garden. There is one tree that is the first to blossom and the colour is wonderful, but each year a fierce wind comes along, soon after it has blossomed, and blows all the buds away. It is a fleeting burst of yellow, but perhaps those flower buds are doing good elsewhere.
I’ve also been developing a new tiny part of the garden. I want this to eventually be a moss garden. It has a way to go yet.
